First Day of my Cogent Reality

I begin typing at 1:15 AM on what is officially Monday, July 19th, 2010.

In this day and age, it might go unnoticed, unless I specifically point it out, how very late in the night (or early in the morning, if you prefer) it is right now. I cannot tell you why I am up this late, but I have a few ideas:

1.) The delicious homemade style macaroni and cheese my mom made this past evening could be the culprit behind the conscious eyes behind my once closed lids. Seeing as how pizza seems to have this insomniatic effect on myself, perhaps I should refrain from eating cheese after 6PM or so.

2.) There is an unstoppable slew of small beetles flying around the room. They are slightly smaller than a fingernail (that is the only thing I can see right now to compare it to) and they have a distinct smell when they "accidentally" fly onto your face and decide to leave a gift from their own ass when you brush them off. Only moments before deciding to create this blog and the subsequent publishing of this first post, I have singlehandedly participated in the genocide of these beetles that had once populated this bedroom.

Allow me to explain in more detail. The prologue to this onslaught involved tossing and turning in bed for several hours, unable to sleep anyway. Every 5 minutes or so, when I felt as though the sweet release of dreams were about to come my way, one of these insects would fly onto my face or pillow, and leave a little of it's own stank when it left. After putting up with this for a while, one proceeded to crawl into, or fly onto, my bed, and begin to take a merry stroll down into my underwear. That did it. I proceeded to slowly, calmly, and most of all, cognitively, get out of bed, walk over to the light switch, and flip it on. I then put a dirty sock on my hand and wandered around the room, smooshing each and every miniature stink bomb into the wall where it stood.

Now that we're on the same page, I'd like to talk about what I'll be saying in this blog. First and foremost, it will center around my own personal development as a conscious human being. Also, it will document the more comical events of my life. This seems like a fun concept; good way to pass the sleepless nights.

So that, my fellow insomniacs, is my conclusion. Leave a comment for what you would have done if the beetles went down your pants at 1:00AM.

  1. Haha! I love you Don. Also, whether it is true or not I am taking full responsibility for your inspiration to blog. :D Do not tell me otherwise, I am already set in my ways.

I am really interested to know what kind of beetles these are and what the heck your room was doing so full of them.

Being the girl that I am, I would say that i probably would have screamed, jumped up and down, stripped myself completely naked, and refused to sleep in my bed. :) That's what I would have done if a beetle tried to get into my underwear. Especially without taking me to dinner first. What kind of girl does it think I am? ;)
